The State Research Agency (AEI) has published the resolution of the 2025 call for the ATRAE Programme (ATR2025), aimed at encouraging the incorporation of established talent into the Spanish System of Science, Technology and Innovation (SECTI). The programme promotes the attraction of qualified talent and supports its stable integration into Spanish universities, public research organisations and other R&D&I centres.
The 2025 call funds 35 grants (6 of them awarded to women, 17%), with a budget of €37 million. These grants are designed to facilitate the incorporation into Spain of researchers of internationally recognised prestige who have recently carried out a significant part of their professional career abroad.
Twenty per cent of the grants (7) have been awarded to researchers of Spanish nationality, while 85% correspond to foreign researchers.
As for beneficiary organisations, 49% of the grants (17) go to universities, 31% (11) to the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), and the remaining 20% to various R&D&I centres.
By Autonomous Community, beneficiary organisations are mainly located in Catalonia, which accounts for 37% of the grants (13), followed by the Community of Madrid with 23% (8). Murcia and Galicia receive four grants each, while the Valencian Community, the Basque Country and Andalusia each receive two grants.
